These terms govern your use of Workboots & Gear (the “site”), published by Iron Mako Media. By using the site you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site.

We are a publisher, not a retailer

This is the most important thing on this page. We do not sell products. We publish research and recommendations and link to retailers, principally Amazon. When you buy something, your contract is with that retailer and not with us.

That means we cannot help with and are not responsible for:

  • orders, payments, shipping, delivery or delays;
  • returns, refunds, exchanges or warranty claims;
  • product defects, product recalls or product quality;
  • retailer pricing, stock levels or promotional terms.

For any of those, contact the retailer you bought from. Their terms and policies apply to your purchase.

Safety information: read this carefully

Much of this site concerns personal protective equipment, and we take the following limits seriously rather than treating them as boilerplate.

  • We are not a certifying body. We describe what standards such as ASTM F2413 and ANSI/ISEA 105 require and what a product’s published rating is. We do not test, certify or verify any product’s compliance, and our description of a rating is not a certification of it.
  • Your employer’s requirements govern. Only your employer can tell you what footwear, gloves or clothing your workplace requires, and any arc-flash or hazard assessment applicable to your work outranks anything written here.
  • Ratings can change and listings can be wrong. Manufacturers revise products, and retail listings are sometimes inaccurate. Always verify the actual marking on the product you receive against what your workplace requires.
  • Nothing here is medical advice. Where we discuss foot pain, compression, cold injury or any other health matter, it is general information. It is not a diagnosis and not a treatment plan, and it does not replace consulting a qualified clinician.
  • No protective equipment makes an unsafe task safe. PPE is the last line of control, not the first.

Accuracy and availability

We work hard to be accurate and we publish corrections when we are not - see our editorial policy. But the site is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability.

Prices shown are drawn from a live retailer lookup and stamped with the date they were checked. They change constantly and are not offers. The retailer’s displayed price at the time of purchase is the only price that counts. Our methodology page explains how the price layer works.

Affiliate relationships

We earn commissions from qualifying purchases made through links on this site, principally as an Amazon Associate. This is disclosed on every commercial page and set out in full in our affiliate disclosure. It does not affect which products we recommend or how we rank them.

Intellectual property

The text, scoring, layout and design of this site are owned by Iron Mako Media. You may link to our pages and quote short extracts with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial portions, reproduce our content in bulk, or use it to train automated systems that reproduce it, without written permission.

Product names, brand names and logos are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here descriptively. Product images are provided through the Amazon Product Advertising and Creators APIs and remain the property of their owners. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl or harvest content at a volume that burdens the site;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems;
  • use the contact form to send spam, abuse or automated submissions;
  • misrepresent your relationship with us, or imply we endorse you or your products.

Third-party links

We link to retailers, manufacturers, standards bodies and government agencies. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Iron Mako Media will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of this site or your reliance on anything published on it. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Changes

We may update these terms, and the date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
