Affiliate disclosure

In one line: we earn commissions when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and it does not decide the picks.

The Amazon Associates statement

Workboots & Gear is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How this works in practice

  • You pay nothing extra. The commission comes from the retailer’s margin, not from your price. Buying through our link costs you exactly what buying direct would.
  • Not every link earns. Links to standards bodies, government agencies and clinical sources - which is where most of our citations go - earn us nothing. They are there because our reasoning should be checkable.
  • Commercial links are marked. Every earning link carries a sponsored relationship attribute and opens in a new tab, and every commercial page carries a disclosure near the top as well as this page in the footer.
  • Our links are cloaked for tracking, not to hide anything. Buy buttons pass through a redirect on this domain so the affiliate tag is applied in one place and cannot be omitted by mistake. You land on the retailer’s normal product page.

How prices work

Prices on this site come from a live Amazon lookup, never from anything typed by hand. The mechanism is deliberately built so it cannot show you a stale number:

  • Our content model has no price field at all, so a price cannot be authored into a page.
  • Prices are refreshed on a daily schedule and stamped with the date. The most recent check was October 6, 2026.
  • Any price older than 48 hours stops rendering and the page falls back to “check price on Amazon”. If our refresh breaks, numbers disappear rather than going stale.
  • Where no verified price exists, we say so rather than showing an old one.

Amazon prices change constantly, so treat any figure as the price when we last looked. The link always shows the current one. Our methodology page describes the mechanism in more detail.

Which retailers we link to

Almost entirely Amazon. We link to a retailer because we judge it the best place for you to buy the product - price, availability and returns - rather than because of the commission rate.

Where we mention a manufacturer’s own site, it is usually as a citation for a specification. Those are plain links that earn us nothing, and we say so where it matters.

Editorial independence

No manufacturer or retailer can buy a position, a score or a mention on this site. Brands do not see pages before publication and have no input into rankings. We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage. The full set of commitments is in our editorial policy.

The practical test of that is whether we ever recommend the option that pays us less, and we do - repeatedly. Insoles for concrete argues that a twenty-five-dollar insole beats a hundred dollars of extra boot. Boots for back pain ranks an anti-fatigue mat and a clinician above any footwear purchase. Work boots vs hiking boots concludes that for some jobs the boots you already own are fine.
